Conference to drive discussion on the vast ecosystem of eco-labels

Dr. Anastasia O’Rourke, Co-Founder of Big Room Inc., is a leading author and researcher on green business, and environmental metrics, having written over 20 reports, articles and whitepapers. She has twelve years experience in environmental research and consulting and has worked worked in Australia, Sweden, France and the United States. She has worked as a consultant with Yale University, The Cleantech Group, Silicon Valley Bank, The City of Sydney, UN Environment Program, and The Carbon Trust. Dr. O’Rourke completed her Ph.D. at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and also holds an M.Sc. (Environmental Management & Policy) from the IIIEE at Lund University, Sweden; and B.A. Hons (1st Class and University Medal) from Sydney University, Australia.

Big Room was founded in 2007 in Vancouver, British Columbia and aims to make it easier for people around the world to make more ecologically sound and socially responsible choices. Its projects include Dot Eco, a system that displays display current, detailed eco-information to anyone with a Web browser and the Ecolabel Index, which helps consumers understand and use ecolabels and educates organizations on the value of ecolabeling initiatives.

Attendees of the Certification Consumption and Change Conference will hear Dr. O’Rourke moderate a conversation between Corey Brinkema, President - US of the Forest Stewardship Council, Sujeesh Krishnan, Head of Carbon Footprinting for the Carbon Trust, and Dr. Arthur Weissman, CEO of Green Seal. The format of the conference allows attendees an extended period to question the panelists following the discussion.

The Certification Consumption and Change Conference will take place May 24th at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The conference will bring together 150 representatives from top brands that source certified ingredients and eco-label their products, leading ethical certifiers, government agencies and NGOs, and the service providers that make reporting and compliance possible.
