ICMM’s Good Practice Guidance on Mining and Biodiversity is the starting point of an environmental education course being developed by Los Algarrobos, an environmental NGO working in the arid and semiarid regions of North-West Argentina.
Los Algarrobos is a member of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and works closely with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew on environmental education. It is also supported by a number of ICMM member companies with operations in Argentina.
Los Algarrobos provided translation of ICMM’s GPG on Mining and Biodiversity into Spanish, and plans to use the publication as the cornerstone for a training program aimed at secondary and tertiary educators. ICMM will review the program before its launch later this year.
