Brown-Forman Corporation announced today the release of its first Corporate Responsibility Report, encompassing the company's commitment to social, environmental, civic, financial, and personal responsibilities. The report includes examples of how Brown-Forman promotes its brands responsibly and works with industry groups and other stakeholders to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol abuse. The report addresses the ever-growing problem of climate change and discusses Brown-Forman's energy and greenhouse gas management strategy regarding this concern. In addition, the report provides an overview of the company's relationship with employees and community. Brown-Forman believes its long-term success is measured not simply by financial returns, but also by what it returns to society and the environment. The theme of the company's initial Corporate Responsibility Report is Our Long-Term Perspective, highlighting how Brown-Forman conducts its business with the current and future prospects of others in mind. The report also includes perspectives from those outside of Brown-Forman, such as renowned Kentucky author and farmer Wendell Berry. With this report, we add a more formal reporting dimension to a process that has been ongoing at Brown-Forman for years, said company Chief Executive Officer Paul Varga.
