Copenhagen Catalogue: Sharing Good Practices in Diabetes Care

Sep 3, 2012 8:15 PM EDT

(3BL Media) September 3, 2012 - Today the Copenhagen Catalogue, a collection of concrete examples of good practices in diabetes care, is being launched. The catalogue originates from the European Diabetes Leadership Forum which took place in Copenhagen on 25-26 April 2012 emphasising that sharing information about the many existing successful practices is crucial in times of financial crisis.

Sometimes the solution to a challenge might be just around the corner, and it is important to highlight that many good ideas don’t require massive investments”, says Lise Kingo, executive vice president, Corporate Relations, Novo Nordisk.

Looking at the 32 submitted good practices, Lise Kingo is not surprised to see that many of these are created in partnerships: “I believe public-private partnerships is a very positive option for the future. If we are to change diabetes, we all need to work together and tear down the siloes”.

Copenhagen Catalogue of Good Practices in Diabetes was introduced to facilitate knowledge sharing within the diabetes community and support the implementation of the outcomes of the European Diabetes Leadership Forum – the Copenhagen Roadmap. Whereas the Copenhagen Roadmap outlined diabetes priority areas, the Copenhagen Catalogue provides concrete examples of successful practices across Europe. The Copenhagen Catalogue publication contains good practices submitted before 30 June, marking the end of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. However, to ensure continued learning, the Catalogue will remain open for submissions.

The European Diabetes Leadership Forum was held in response to the current climate of slow economic growth and increasingly ageing populations. The Forum was arranged under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union – the Danish Ministry of Health. The Forum was proudly hosted by the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Danish Diabetes Association and was supported by Novo Nordisk.
