DONG Energy and Inbicon inaugurate bioethanol plant

Mar 8, 2010 4:43 AM CST

(Justmeans.com / CSR News) - The plant is a further step towards producing climate-friendly car fuel. Danisco will be supplying the enzymes for the plant and congratulates DONG Energy and Inbicon.

Today’s inauguration of DONG Energy’s and Inbicon’s plant for the production of second-generation bioethanol in Kalundborg, Denmark, is a further step towards producing climate-friendly car fuel. Danisco will be supplying the enzymes for the plant and congratulates DONG Energy and Inbicon.

’I am pleased on behalf of DONG Energy and wish to congratulate the company. Being a supplier of enzymes for the plant, we have followed the construction phase with interest. Danisco is engaged in enzymes for second-generation bioethanol through our sales to customers and our collaboration with US-based DuPont where we focus on selling concepts for bioethanol plants. In our view, sustainable bioethanol is one of the most important contributions to climate-friendly transportation in future, and we have great expectations for this product,’ says Danisco CEO Tom Knutzen.

Analyses show that the market for second-generation bioethanol potentially could exceed USD 75 billion in 2020, and Danisco will be striving to play a key role as supplier of enzymes for this production and as an overall technology supplier via the joint venture with DuPont.
