Do the Math! 3 Reasons Why Missing the Social Enterprise Summit Doesn’t Add Up

Jan 25, 2010 9:57 AM CST

(Justmeans.com / CSR News) - P x C x R = SI may not be as well known (yet) as E=mc2, but all social entrepreneurs recognize the truth behind the formula.

Passions x Competencies X Resources = Social Impact

If you are reading this blog, you are passionate about social impact. Whether you are a funder, entrepreneur, media professional, or a staff member at a social enterprise, you are passionate about making a difference. The 2010 Enterprise Summit (link to http://se-alliance.org/Summit.cfm) is your opportunity to be surrounded by people who share your passion and can increase your competencies and resources.

1. PASSION

Prepare to be inspired! Hearing and meeting innovative leaders like Leila Chirayath Janah (link to http://www.samasource.org/about/team#leila) from SamaSource (link to http://www.samasource.org/) will bring your passion for social enterprise to new levels. From the opening reception (link to http://se-alliance.org/Summit_10showcase.cfm) to the Social Enterprise Awards (link to http://se-alliance.org/Summit_10awards.cfm) the Summit will be filled with opportunities to be motivated by like-minded leaders.

2. COMPETENCIES

It is one thing to be inspired, but it is another thing to add new skills and insights to your inspiration. You will leave the Summit with clear lessons that will increase your social impact. For example, Sara Olsen (link to http://www.svtgroup.net/about/team), the founding partner of SVT Group (link to http://www.svtgroup.net/) will discuss tools to measure social and environmental impact and maximize positive impact per dollar. There will also be in-depth half-day workshops on the Wednesday before the Summit (link to http://se-alliance.org/Summit_10preconference.cfm) that you do not want to miss.

3. RESOURCES

In addition to a host of speakers (http://se-alliance.org/Summit_10speakers.cfm) who offer a variety of resources, this year the Summit is hosting an Angels Forum (http://se-alliance.org/Summit_10angels.cfm). Inspired by the CBC television series, The Dragon's Den, this event will feature eight social entrepreneurs who will pitch their social enterprises to a panel of judges (or "Angels"), all in front of a live audience. The social entrepreneurs with the best pitch could be featured on the SEA website during 2010 and may catch the attention of funders in the audience.

If you have not done the math and already registered, do so now while there is still space (http://se-alliance.org/Summit_10registration.cfm). April 28-30, 2010 will be the time when P x C x R = SI really comes alive!
