Conference to drive discussion on the vast ecosystem of eco-labels

Dr. Arthur Weissman, CEO of Green Seal, is responsible for the overall operation and direction of the non-profit organization’s dedication to improving the environment by encouraging cleaner products, production and purchasing. Prior to joining Green Seal, Dr. Weissman developed national policy and guidance for the Superfund program at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Weissman also served as a Congressional Science Fellow and worked for The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut. He holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in physical geography and environmental science, a Master’s in natural resource management from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.

Green Seal is a non-profit organization that uses science-based programs to empower consumers, purchasers and companies to create a more sustainable world. Green Seal develops life cycle-based sustainability standards for products, services and companies and offers third-party certification. Green Seal has been actively identifying and promoting sustainability in the marketplace, and helping organizations be greener in a real and effective way since 1989.

Attendees of the Certification Consumption and Change Conference will hear Dr. Weissman in conversation with Sujeesh Krishnan, Head of Carbon Footprinting for Carbon Trust, LLC, and Corey Brinkema, President - US of the Forest Stewardship Council. The format of the conference allows attendees an extended period to question the panelists following a discussion moderated by Anastasia O’Rourke, Co-founder and CEO of Big Room.

The Certification Consumption and Change Conference will take place May 24th at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
