DuPont Taiwan Promotes ‘Creative Ideas for a Sustainable Future’
|
(Justmeans.com / CSR News) - In cooperation with the Association of Science Education in Taiwan (ASET), DuPont Taiwan recently organized an essay competition called “Creative Ideas for a Sustainable Future.” Steve Chen, president – DuPont Taiwan, recognized five winners during the grand opening of the 2010 International Conference on Chemical Education (ICCE), in the presence of Taiwanese Nobel Prize Laureate Lee Yuan-Tseh and distinguished scientists from 40 countries. "We are very pleased with the continuous support from DuPont on science education and gratified with the enthusiastic participation and response from students, university professors, manufacturing engineers and financial consultants,” said Mei Hong Chiu, 2010 ICCE chairwoman. Steve highlighted the DuPont approach on driving sustainability with science-powdered innovations to address the four megatrends — increasing food production, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, protecting lives and the environment, and growth in emerging markets. “It is our honor to partner with creative talents to generate ideas and momentum over innovation for sustainability,” Steve said. During the competition, more than 400 ideas were shared. Some examples included cooking with a solar pot, air conditioning with wind energy, biodiesel from waste vegetable oil and electricity from dancing. In addition, six sets of teaching materials were selected and will be leveraged by ASET to popularize science education on sustainability. |
