Electrifying Italy’s Car Industry
The Italian Electrified Mobility Technological Platform is interested in identifying new needs for products, infrastructure and services to promote electric transportation in Italy. Nearly 70 companies and research organizations, including DuPont, have joined forces backed by the Ministries of Environment, University and Research and Economic Development.
"The technological platforms are a meeting point where scientific and industrial contents can converge," said Alessandro Sciolari, director of Assoknowledge, the Confindustria employers association which is promoting the initiative with the Automobile Technical Association (ATA).
The aim for this platform of innovators is to:
- Proactively define a research and development area dedicated to urban mobility.
- Generate innovation objectives.
- Provide new products and national infrastructures.
- Coordinate national efforts in a European context.
DuPont will participate in this challenge with a portfolio of products and services that help reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
“Winning this challenge will not be easy,” said Nevio Di Giusto, ATA president. “Time is short and Italy is lagging behind, Europe asks its member countries to provide an interface to discuss environmental programs and this platform seems a laudable initiative. It is important that we establish a few things to do well and thoroughly. It’s important that both builders and component producers have been invited to the table to create an aggregating pole around the Italian car industry.”
