Conference to drive discussion on how to prove the impact of certifications

Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy is the Director of Evaluation & Research for the Rainforest Alliance, where she works to demonstrate the organization’s biodiversity and livelihood impacts through empirical research and a results based management approach. Dr. Kennedy has over 30 years experience working as a field biologist, academic scientist and metrics specialist, in addition to an extensive record of peer review and technical publications. Dr. Kennedy earned her doctorate in Forest Science in 2002 from Texas A&M University.

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. The Rainforest Alliance helps farmers, forest managers and tourism businesses realize greater economic benefits by ensuring ecosystems within and around their operations are protected, and that their workers are well-trained and enjoy safe conditions, proper sanitation, health care and housing.

Attendees of the Certification Consumption and Change Conference will hear Dr. Kennedy in conversation with Leonardo Bonanni, the CEO of Sourcemap and Dr. Stanley Rhodes, President and CEO of SCS Certified. The format of the conference allows attendees an extended period to question the panelists following a moderated discussion.

The Certification Consumption and Change Conference will take place May 24th at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
