OXNARD, CA. (March 30, 2010) - PKG Industries has recently updated its logo to match its ever-increasing commitment to sustainable, environmentally friendly packaging.  The company’s name will also be changed from PKG Industries to pkg.

 The company is currently working towards the ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard, and has joined the 1% For The Planet. This is an alliance of businesses which donate 1% of their top line revenues to environmental organizations worldwide.

 “We’ve had to make some tough choices,” said Frank Roughan, co-founder of pkg, “with the way the world is going, we decided we could no longer continue selling unsustainable products just for the sake of the almighty dollar.”

 One of pkg’s most difficult decisions was retiring the 1951 Ford Woody Wagon that has served as the company’s logo for over twenty years.  “We started out in 1987 delivering screen printed and embroidered sportswear out of the back of the old Ford Woody Wagon,” Roughan said.  “But it is 2010 now and we decided it was time for a new look that represents more of what pkg stands for today.”

 pkg’s new tri-color logo represents the triple bottom line: people, planet, profit which enthusiastically compliments the company’s new environmentally conscious approach to packaging. The company has also dropped the word ‘Industries’ from its name and opted for lowercase letters instead of capitals,  representing the abbreviated form of the word ‘packaging’.
