GM Opens Community Garden; Dell Supports NGOs in India; Climate Counts Plans Eco Bike Ride - CSR Minute for August 13, 2012

General Motors has opened a community urban garden in Detroit. 250 shipping crates from a nearby GM plant have been converted into raised garden beds in a formerly abandoned parking lot to create the Cadillac Urban Gardens. The project is collaboration with Detroit Dirt, which provided the soil, and the GM Supplier of the Year Ideal Group.

Dell has budgeted $2.4 million for the funding of its CSR program in India. The money will fund Dell Learning in India, which works with NGOs to equip them with digital learning resources through Dell Learning centers in 390 Indian schools.

Climate Counts has announced the dates for its 2012 California Climate Ride: September 9th through the 13th. The five-day, 300-mile trip begins in the Redwood Forest near Eureka and ends in San Francisco. The bicycle ride includes nightly speakers and group discussions about clean energy and climate change.
