Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has pledged $2M to food security projects to the Aceh province of Indonesia. The company has sourced coffee from this region for more than 10 years, much of it fair trade certified and organic. Green Mountain has joined with Save the Children to fund a three-year project called LINK, Livelihood and Improved Nutrition for Kids.

Two dozen automotive industry manufacturers and suppliers, including Chrysler, Ford, and Honda, have collaborated with the Automotive Industry Action Group to develop a new reporting tool that will help companies identify whether their products contain conflict minerals. The web-based data management tool, the iPoint Conflict Minerals Platform, will help companies source responsibly. AIAG holds its annual quality conference today and tomorrow in Michigan.

The Centre for Social Innovation, a Toronto-based enterprise, is opening a shared space for social entrepreneurs in New York City. The organization is leasing 24,000 square feet in its first US location in New York City's iconic Starrett-Lehigh Building this winter. The center will serve as a hub for the city's community of innovators, entrepreneurs, enterprises and nonprofits with an emphasis on partnerships that develop within the shared workspace.
