AMD was honored to learn on Monday that it been recognized twice over for its environmental sustainability efforts, placing 17th on the inaugural list of Newsweek's Top 500 Greenest Big Companies in America, and was featured in CDP's Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index.
The goal of the Newsweek Green Rankings was to rank the 500 largest U.S. companies based on each company’s actual resource use and emissions, policies and procedures and reputation. Newsweek compiled the rankings in conjunction with leading environmental researchers KLD Research & Analytics, Trucost, and CorporateRegister.com to rank the 500 largest U.S. companies based on their actual environmental performance, policies, and reputation.
The CDP is an independent not-for-profit organization holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change information in the world. The CDP Leadership Index, a key component of CDP’s annual S&P 500 Report, highlights the constituent companies within the S&P 500 Index which have displayed the most professional approach to corporate governance in respect of climate change disclosure practices. Companies are scored on their climate change disclosure and high scores indicate good internal data management and understanding of climate change related issues affecting the company.
While we are proud these reports recognize AMD for its sustainability practices and results, they also provide us with valuable information for AMD to evaluate opportunities for continual improvement.
More details about AMD’s environmental sustainability efforts can be found in its recently released, ninth annual Global Climate Protection Plan. The plan presents AMD’s strategy, goals, and commitment to continually reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to global climate protection efforts. This effort spans our products, operations, and collaborative initiatives with our industry, suppliers, customers, government partners, and employees. Our strategy, quite simply, is to make energy conscious, smart choices in our operations and to leverage the collaborative bond with our customer and technology partners, positively impacting our products and supply chain.
