ABOUT Heller Communication Design
We are a brand strategy and creative consultancy that helps clients redefine their brand promise to include Corporate Social Responsibility. By applying the principles of sustainability to communications, we create simple, powerful programs that inspire employees and motivate customers. We bring the discipline of design to the overall structure and content of communication, not just the individual projects produced. We use a systemic approach, incorporating all audiences and creating change where it will achieve the most impact with the least expenditure of resources. We believe that communication has the power to create change, not just report it, and that success should be measured by how little is needed, not how much. We offer brand strategies, workshops and on-site consulting, naming, corporate identity programs, packaging, sustainability reports, employee programs and communications, custom publishing, design, web development and events.

(Justmeans.com / CSR News) - One Day Workshop Attracts Nonprofits and Social Entrepreneurs
NEW YORK CITY, NY - Heller Communication Design (HCD) announced the successful completion of their first one-day workshop for nonprofit organizations and social entrepreneurs, “Good Brand Camp”, on July 24. The goals of the workshop were to help nonprofits and social entrepreneurs accomplish their missions by developing more powerful brand strategies and communication systems that inspire change.
"The growing number of mission-driven organizations has brought with it a more intense level of competition for support and attention," says Cheryl Heller, founder and CEO. "Over the years, we’ve (HCD) worked mostly with for-profit companies, helping them strengthen their messages and methods of delivery. We felt it was time to share this experience with as many nonprofit organizations as possible by developing this 'almost free' workshop." (Participants paid a nominal $100 registration fee.)
Participants of Good Brand Camp learned that, like any business, the key to success involves developing a clearer definition of what their organizations stand for and to communicate it in a way that distinguishes them and rouses potential supporters to action.
Heller conducted the full day clinic. Participants learned to accomplish their mission by:
# Defining objectives that result in amplified creativity and action
# Identifying and communicating the ethical core of their organization
# Creating a distinctive and relevant brand promise that captures what is unique about their organization
# Using the brand promise as a roadmap for behavior
# Creating messages for each of their key audiences
# Using communication to engage audiences and create positive change
Participating companies included such diverse organizations as Safe Horizon, Aging in New York Fund, Greenmap, Ford Hall Forum, Futures and Options, Living the Green and Ojo Oyendo. One participant who revised his company’s brand promise during the workshop said it helped to “ . . . clarify WHO we are serving, what the NEED is, and HOW we are doing this in a UNIQUE way.”
Cheryl Heller is helping to launch a new NGO called D-Rev: Design for the other 90%. She sits on the board of the PopTech conference, which explores the social impact of technology and the future, and The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education.
