Hilton Worldwide Teams Up with Business for Social Responsibility; International Paper Sets New Sustainability Goals; Hyundai Sponsors Mothers Against Drunk Driving Event - CSR Minute for May 25, 2012
Hilton Worldwide and Business for Social Responsibility, have launched the Center for Sustainable Procurement. Funded in full by Hilton with day-to-day management by BSR, the Center will develop metrics analysis, collaborative consulting projects, educational guidelines, and research to address sourcing and supply chain issues.
International Paper has announced 12 voluntary sustainability goals to be achieved by 2020. They include a 15 percent improvement in energy efficiency and a 20 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The goals are contained in the company’s 2011 sustainability report, which achieves a B-level application of the Global Reporting Initiative’s guidelines.
Hyundai has partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to raise awareness about driving while impaired. For its second year as the presenting sponsor of the annual “Walk Like MADD,” held in Orange County, California, Hyundai donated $25,000 to the organization. Over 1,200 participants attended this year’s 5K walk event.
