(Justmeans.com / CSR News) - ICMM was represented in the Geneva Trade and Development Forum (GTDF), a neutral platform to engage in an ongoing and substantive debate on trade and development challenges faced by developing countries. Vale’s Renato Amorim presented on a panel on ‘Commodities, Governance and Poverty Reduction’. The Forum organized its first high-level Conference in Crans-Montana (Switzerland) from 17 to 20 September 2008, bringing together various stakeholders active in the trade and development fields including international organisations, governments, civil society, academia and the private sector. The session, “Commodities, Governance and Poverty Reduction: Turning Africa’s Mineral Wealth into Development", was moderated by Mr Pierre Defraigne, Honorary General Director, European Commission, and included a representative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, a scholar from the London School of Economics doing research on China in Africa, a Chinese government official, and Vale’s Renato Amorim in representation of ICMM. |
