The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) was established in 2001 to act as a catalyst for performance improvement. Today, we bring together 21 mining and metals companies as well as 32 national and regional mining associations and global commodity associations to address the core sustainable development challenges faced by the industry.
ICMM convenes workshop on artisanal mining in Brazil

(Justmeans.com / CSR News) - Claire White attended the 8th annual Communities and Small-scale Mining (CASM) conference in Brasilia from 6 to 10 October, on the theme of "Digging to Deliver Development". ICMM and Wardell Armstrong, a mining industry consultancy, convened a workshop on managing the interface between large scale mining and artisanal/small scale mining. The workshop was well attended and focussed on defining the role and responsibility of government in establishing and maintaining co-existence, company policy and realistic options for intervention and understanding the role of civil society and non-governmental organizations. |
