A new spotlight on “sowing the seeds for action” in Ghana was published this month. It details the proceedings and findings presented at a workshop held in Accra in February 2008. The workshop was co-hosted by ICMM and the Ghanaian government and supported by the Ghanaian chamber of mines.
This event convened an unprecedented range of stakeholder groups and sought to catalyze action around a set of clear priorities determined by workshop participants on ways to improve mining’s contribution to socio-economic development.
Until now, ICMM’s Resource Endowment initiative engagement with Ghana had focused on developing a better understanding of mining’s socio-economic impact in the country. The most recent phase also sought to catalyze action which might enhance it.
