ABOUT Keystone Human Services
Keystone Human Services is a nonprofit organization committed to serving the community. Keystone is committed to creating an environment where all people can grow, make choices, and be valued and contributing members of society. Keystone provides comprehensive community-based services for children, young people, adults and families in the areas of intellectual disabilities (mental retardation), autism, mental health, early intervention and children and family services. Keystone serves individuals and families in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Connecticut. Keystone Human Services is also engaged in initiatives in Russia and Moldova.
“Images of Advancing the Human Spirit” on Display at the Pennsylvania State Capitol
(3BL Media) Harrisburg, PA - April 2, 2012 – The photographic exhibit, “Images of Advancing the Human Spirit,” will be on display in the East Wing of the Rotunda at the Pennsylvania State Capitol for the month of April. These images by Dennis Felty and Daniel Shanken reflect the work of Keystone Human Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for all people, regardless of ability, to be valued and contributing members of the community.
Daniel Shanken, an experienced and gifted artist, states that the photographs are not simply pictures of an individual’s disability. Instead, the photographs reflect the essence of the individuals who use Keystone’s services.
Dennis Felty is not only a fine art photographer but is also the founding president of Keystone Human Services. Dedicated to deinstitutionalization and the inclusion of all people, Keystone has been serving the community for forty years. When Keystone first began, it supported three gentlemen to move from the Harrisburg State Hospital into their own home on Green Street in Harrisburg. Today, Keystone provides support for thousands of children and adults in homes and apartments in the community.

Keystone provides services to children and adults with autism, intellectual disabilities, and those experiencing mental illness, as well as children and family services. People using Keystone supports may live in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and parts of Maryland and Delaware. Keystone also has programs in Moldova and Russia and provides consultation in Azerbaijan, Romania and South Africa.
