India’s first auditor training program on the new Energy Management System standard

Delhi -- Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to a wide range of industries worldwide, launched India’s first facilitator training course for auditors and consultants on the energy management systems standard ISO 50001:2011. The Delhi course, the first of twenty to take place across India, will be inaugurated by Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General, BEE, in Delhi on 29th August, 2011.

According to ISO (the International Organization for Standardization), ISO 50001 could influence up to 60% of the world's energy use, with broad applicability across national economic sectors. These standards seek to integrate tenets of energy efficiency and energy conservation within the management fabric of any enterprise.

Mr. Rajesh Saigal, Managing Director, Intertek India said, “Keeping in mind the global focus on energy and the scope of growth for energy management systems in Indian market, the ISO 50001 training is in-line with Intertek’s policy in paving the way for new systems and standardization in the industry.”

Intertek is offering this course in partnership with the Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM), the national professional body of Certified Energy Auditors and Managers (CEAs and CEMs). The course will give a thorough understanding of the recently launched ISO 50001 standard and the implementation of energy management systems in industries, institutes and enterprise.

The two day facilitator course, to be offered across 20 locations in 14 states, will provide over 700 energy professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare, plan, conduct and report audits assessing the compliance of energy management systems with the requirements of ISO 50001:2011. A combination of presentations, discussions, and case studies will provide an interactive setting for participants. Intertek experts Mr. Alocious T. Fernandez and Mr. Naveen Kaushal will be conducting the training and sharing their knowledge with the participants.
