NOMINATIONS DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR 2012 GLOBE AWARDS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE

Vancouver, Canada – The deadline for nominations for the 10^th edition of the GLOBE Awards for Environmental Excellence is January 27, 2012. The GLOBE Awards are presented annually to extraordinary companies and industry groups from across the country that have shown an exceptional ability to balance competitive strategies and sustainable development. 

The 2012 GLOBE Awards will be presented in Vancouver on Friday, March 16 during the Closing Luncheon for GLOBE 2012, international conference and trade fair on business of energy and environment.

Every year the GLOBE Foundation proudly supports profitable Canadian companies that have demonstrated the ability to prevent and mitigate environmental risks while leveraging commercial opportunities. These companies achieve success by integrating sustainability into their corporate strategy and operations while remaining competitive in the business environment. Considered to be the most high-profile national awards series of its type, the GLOBE Awards are judged by a panel of experts recognized as leaders in the Canadian business community.

GLOBE Awards are presented in six categories:

• Corporate Environmental Excellence
• Excellence in Emerging Technology
• Technology Innovation and Application
• Excellence in Urban Sustainability
• Sustainability in Finance
• Best Green Retailing Practices

The Next Gen Entrepreneur Award, a special award presented by the GLOBE Foundation and Delphi Group, will be awarded to a post-secondary student or recent graduate who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship with regards to the principles of sustainability.

Leading Canadian companies nominated to date include: Aqua-Guard Spill Response Inc., Canadian Tire, M.A. Turbo/Engine Ltd., Morgan Solar Inc., PepsiCo Foods Canada, Vbine Energy, and Waterfront Toronto.
