Justmeans’ Ethical Sourcing and Certification Conference Returns to London, Sept. 16, 2011
June 16, 2011 – New York, NY – Justmeans announced today their next executive conference, an exciting new installment following on last year's sold-out Certification, Consumption and Change Conference in London. The Ethical Sourcing and Certification Conference convenes at The Brewery on September 16th in central London. The event brings together thought leaders from leading sustainable brands, NGOs and certifying bodies, and other ecosystem players, to discuss the future of ethical certifications.
The conference provides the next chapter in the ongoing story of certification as a core tenet of the accelerating drive toward greater transparency and responsibility by product manufacturers worldwide. For professionals who work in ethical sourcing or supply chain management, who oversee sustainability planning or programs, or certify the products or the producers, this conference provides the best opportunity this year to join colleagues and leading experts in a frank discussion of how the certification field is evolving.
The Ethical Sourcing and Certification Conference agenda touches on these critical questions currently confronting the ethical certification industry:
- Is the movement from producer-led to corporate-led labeling initiatives a healthy trend?
- How can ethical labels work more holistically with producers and consumer brands to promote ethical options?
- To what extent should government regulate the claims made on products in an effort to combat greenwashing?
- Why has the impact of ethical certifications been so difficult to prove?
- How will market stressors be managed to allow more sustainable products to come to market in less time?
Previous Justmeans conferences have included representatives from brands such as Cartier, Dole and S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., leading ethical certifiers like UTZ Certified, Green Seal and Fair Trade USA, NGOs pushing for change such as WWF, Marine Stewardship Council and Rainforest Alliance and service providers that make reporting and compliance possible, such as Enablon, Scientific Certification Systems and Sedex.
Conference attendees will enjoy a full day of panel discussions featuring industry-leading expert speakers seeking to shape the future of ethical certifications, liberal time for Q&A, all followed by a cocktail and canapé reception of peer-to-peer networking.
This upcoming conference is sponsored by Forest Stewardship Council. Early bird pricing is in effect for a limited time only. Students may attend at a reduced rate.
