Kerry Cesareo, WWF to Speak at Certification, Consumption and Change Conference, Washington DC, 5.24
Conference to drive discussion using real-world examples of certification successes and challenges
(Justmeans.com) May 18, 2011 – New York, NY – Justmeans is proud to announce the participation of the WWF at the Certification Consumption and Change Conference on May 24 in Washington DC, that will bring together thought leaders from social enterprises, leading brands, and certifying bodies to discuss and plan the future of ethical certification.
As Managing Director, Kerry Cesareo leads WWF’s strategy and work related to forests to produce measurable results in mitigating and reversing the impacts of the forest sector as a driver of biodiversity loss. In 2006, Kerry successfully launched the North American program of WWF’s Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN), forging partnerships with P&G, Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark, Walmart, Williams-Sonoma, Inc., and other leading forest product companies. She also managed the Sustainable Forest Products Global Alliance, a public-private partnership between WWF, The Home Depot and USAID, and lead global operations for GFTN. Prior to joining WWF in 2001, Kerry worked with Iisaak Forest Resources, Ltd., an FSC-certified company in British Columbia. Kerry earned a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a master’s in environmental management from Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.
WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by conserving the world’s biological diversity, ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable and promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption. Since 1985, the WWF has invested over US$1,300 million in more than 11,000 projects in more than 100 countries. In carrying out its work, the WWF cooperates with many partners, including UN organizations, IUCN, and development agencies such as USAID and the World Bank as well as partners in private business & industry.
Attendees of the Certification Consumption and Change Conference will hear Ms. Cesareo in conversation with Dan Vogel, CEO and Co-Founder of Enablon, and Al Iannuzzi, Senior Director of Worldwide Environmental Health and Safety for Johnson & Johnson. The format of the conference allows attendees an extended period to question the panelists following a discussion moderated by Matt Furman, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Mars Chocolate.
The Certification Consumption and Change Conference will take place May 24th at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The conference will bring together 150 representatives from top brands that source certified ingredients and eco-label their products, leading ethical certifiers, government agencies and NGOs, and the service providers that make reporting and compliance possible. Conference attendees will enjoy a full day of panel discussions that will shape the future of ethical certifications.
