Symposium Topic:
Disrupting the Status Quo in Electric Energy Management: A Systems Approach to a Sustainable Energy Future
Solutions to sustainable energy management, combining new network infrastructure with technological breakthroughs such wind generation or electric hybrid vehicles, may mean pulling the plug on how things are done today.
Addressing this challenge, Boston University’s Center for Information and Systems Engineering, Clean Energy and Environmental Sustainability Initiative, and Division of Systems Engineering at Boston University are sponsoring a one-day symposium on May 21, 2009, to explore critical aspects of technology advancement and market growth in the sustainable energy sector.
The event will bring together leaders from the private sector—such as chief technology officers, management, research scientists, and venture capitalists—with academic professionals for a series of talks and panels on different aspects of “Disrupting the Status Quo in Electric Energy Management: A Systems Approach to a Sustainable Energy Future.”
One featured presentation: “Innovative Business Models to Drive Market Adoption,” given by Boston University School of Management’s Nalin Kulatilaka, Wing Tat Lee Family Professor of Finance & Economics (occurring at 2pm).
Other topics covered throughout the day, in talks by and discussions among academic and industry leaders, will include:
* Energy Systems for the Future * Building a Smarter Infrastructure * New Business and Education Models * The Case for Widespread Adoption
