Nestlé Releases Global Shared Value Report; Cone Green Gap Trend Tracker Adds up Consumer Attitudes to Eco-Products - CSR Minute for April 18, 2012

Apr 18, 2012 2:15 PM EDT

Nestlé has released its Global Creating Shared Value Report, which outlines the company’s progress in its key focus areas of nutrition, water and rural development, as well as in environmental sustainability and compliance. Nestle’s reporting also covers the newly included areas of human rights, diversity, climate change, biodiversity, and corruption. This year, the company has reported to the Global Reporting Initiative’s A level, becoming the first global food company to do so in its report.

Eight in ten American consumers don’t believe companies are addressing all of their environmental impacts, and only 44 percent trust companies’ green claims. 77 percent would be willing to boycott a company if misled about those claims. These figures are among the new findings of the 2012 Cone Green Gap Trend Tracker. The report also concludes that 73 percent of consumers want companies to provide more environmental information on the product packaging.
