Researchers from the International Centre for Lifecourse Studies in Society and Health in Great Britain have released a guide to “social medicines” that are beneficial to the health and well-being of individuals and the population as a whole. Combining social and biological information from life-course studies, the researchers have found that more social medicines result in better physical and mental health. These include a stable family life, stress free childhood, positive relationships with friends and neighbors, and a socially active old age.

GNS Healthcare, a data analytics company focused on personalized medical care, is collaborating with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine to create a data-driven computer model of multiple myeloma, the second most common blood cancer in the U.S. The model will help researchers discover novel therapies for the disease and to determine the best existing treatments for patients.
