(Justmeans.com / CSR News) -
One of the strengths of the Social Enterprise Summit is the diversity of the attendees and the people they serve, including a diversity of ages. Civic Ventures focuses on engaging millions of baby boomers as a vital workforce for change. Alexandra Céspedes Kent, a speaker at the summit, is Director for the Purpose Prize at Civic Ventures. The Purpose Prize offers $100,000 in awards for social innovators over 60 creating new methods for solving the world´s biggest problems. The Purpose Prize is awarded to individuals who discover new opportunities, invent new programs and foster lasting social change. Prior to coming to Civic Ventures, Alexandra promoted civic leadership and financial literacy. She directed community programs for the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, where she designed and facilitated intensive leadership programs for groups of teens, working professionals, retirees and partner institutions, including the University of California at San Francisco. At Juma Ventures, a social enterprise employing low-income teens, Alexandra managed the nation's largest Individual Development Account (IDA) Program and implemented the local arm of SEED, a national policy demonstration testing the feasibility of a matched savings account system for children. Alexandra currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative. We are so excited to see Alexandra speak in April.
