WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber Business Civic Leadership Center’s annual “people’s choice” campaign for the Partnership Award is in full swing. Among the five partnerships that are finalists in this year’s competition, the one winner will be determined solely by public participation in online voting. BCLC is calling on all corporate citizenship stakeholders to take part in the campaign by voting and then sharing the story about the five worthy finalists.

“This year has truly brought home the fact that none of us can solve problems alone, but together we can make a difference,” said BCLC Vice President and Executive Director Stephen Jordan. “We salute all of the finalists and we encourage all citizens not only to get involved in the Partnership Award voting contest, but to spread the word and show support for these great partnerships.”

    The finalists are:

    • Chevron & Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership for developing learning centers in five countries
    • CVS Caremark Corporation & Boundless Playgrounds Inc. for building inclusive playgrounds so all children, including those with disabilities, can play
    • The Estée Lauder Companies & The Breast Cancer Research Foundation for focusing on breast cancer research to help lead to prevention and a cure
    • Ford Motor Company & the National Latino Children Institute for educating parents about how to save children’s lives through the use of safety seats and seat belts
    • Nationwide Insurance & American Red Cross for partnering on disaster response and biomedical services for more than 25 years

Voting is taking place in partnership with social media company Justmeans. To date, more than 15,200 votes have been collected – and nearly 700 comments have been left conveying the positive impact these corporate citizenship programs have had on individuals and communities. Voting continues until November 6.

“BCLC’s intent with the Partnership Award is to create awareness of and good will toward some of the best business-nonprofit partnerships taking place across the globe,” said BCLC Online and Editorial Advisor Kitty Taylor. “We think the public voting opportunity takes this awareness to a level not yet reached in the corporate citizenship field.”

The Partnership Award is one of four categories in BCLC’s annual Corporate Citizenship Awards. Other categories are Corporate Stewardship, U.S. Community Service, and International Community Service. One winner in each category will be announced on December 1 at BCLC’s 10th annual Corporate Citizenship Awards Dinner at the U.S. Chamber’s historic headquarters in Washington, D.C.

BCLC, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is a resource and voice for business’ social and philanthropic interests. Its mission is to advance the positive role of business in society.
