The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) was established in 2001 to act as a catalyst for performance improvement. Today, we bring together 21 mining and metals companies as well as 32 national and regional mining associations and global commodity associations to address the core sustainable development challenges faced by the industry.

A landmark alliance recently signed between Barrick and three non-governmental organizations in Chile is hoping to alleviate the pockets of poverty in Atacama through targeted programs and initiatives. Called the Atacama Commitment, the focus of this unprecedented partnership is on housing, education, health and socioeconomic development. |
