The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) was established in 2001 to act as a catalyst for performance improvement. Today, we bring together 21 mining and metals companies as well as 32 national and regional mining associations and global commodity associations to address the core sustainable development challenges faced by the industry.

The Rössing mine was first established in Namibia in 1976. Rössing’s production currently accounts for 10.2 percent of Namibia’s exports and contributes 1.9 percent to the gross domestic product.
