In January of 2010, Obama announced the $8 billion investment plan in HSR for 13 projects in 31 states. High speed rail (HSR) is poised to become the centerpiece of the United State’s transportation infrastructure, contingent upon critical support from state and local governments. Current political climates, however, effect the likelihood of potential HSR projects in certain regions, making rail - historically a very bipartisan issue - a partisan battleground.
