Manpower Colombia Recognized for Anti-Trafficking Intervention for Young People
PDF (0 kb)
The United Nations’ Global Initiative to fight Human Trafficking (UN.GIFT) has published a report on best practices by business to combat human trafficking. Manpower, Inc. is particlarly proud that one of the six featured case studies is a program by Manpower Colombia to help young people at risk of human trafficking. Manpower Colombia's "Visionary Youth" Program is designed to help abandoned or otherwise at-risk youth integrate into adult roles, including work, through a combination of counseling, training, and employment support. In 2007-8, Manpower Colombia partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to reach out to youth specifically at risk for human trafficking. The majority of program participants are now in work or further education. The report is called "Human Trafficking and Business: Good Practices to Prevent and Combat Human Trafficking." The Colombia project is described on pages 40-42.
