ABOUT International Council on Mining and Metals - ICMM
The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) was established in 2001 to act as a catalyst for performance improvement. Today, we bring together 21 mining and metals companies as well as 32 national and regional mining associations and global commodity associations to address the core sustainable development challenges faced by the industry.

Newmont brought in consultancy International SOS to operate a broad-based health service at is Batu Hijau mine in 1996. A number of highly successful workforce programs have been implemented over the last ten years - in conjunction with other specifically designed community health and wellness programs - to manage the negative impacts of HIV, tuberculosis and malaria. |
