ABOUT BP Plc
BP p.l.c. (BP), incorporated in 1909, is an international oil and gas company. The Company operates in more than 80 countries, providing its customers with fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, retail services and petrochemicals products. The Company operates two segments: Exploration and Production, and Refining and Marketing. Exploration and Production抯 activities cover three key areas. Upstream activities include oil and natural gas exploration, field development and production. Midstream activities include pipeline, transportation and processing activities related to its upstream activities. Marketing and trading activities include the marketing and trading of natural gas, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), together with power and natural gas liquids (NGLs). Refining and Marketing抯 activities include the supply and trading, refining, manufacturing, marketing and transportation of crude oil, petroleum and petrochemicals products and related services. During the year ended December 31, 2009, it sold its interest in BP West Java Limited, Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC and LukArco. In February 2010, the Company announced that Rubis acquired its France's 50% stake in Frangaz, thus becoming its sole shareholder. In August 2010, Apache Corporation acquired the Company抯 Permian Basin assets.

On 15 April, BP launches BP Sustainability Review 2009 along with a complete refresh of bp.com/sustainability.
The Review, available in print and as a pdf, includes BP’s position and strategy around key sustainability topics of relevance to the company and the industry.
bp.com/sustainability examines these core topics in more depth, as well as reporting on a wider set of issues. The website includes detailed information about social, environmental and safety performance in 2009, along with case studies that demonstrate the organisation’s sustainability efforts in action.
This year’s reporting features:
• Today’s energy challenges – meeting demand affordably at the same time as providing security of supply and addressing the issue of climate change.
• Canadian oil sands – how BP is approaching this major new frontier in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
• Sustainability mapping tool – relaunching in 2010, with information about biodiversity, protected areas and management of water use, waste-water discharges and emissions to air, for BP’s major operating sites.
• Tangguh case study – designing the Indonesian gas production project to make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the local community, while creating value for BP.
• Framework for safe operations - completing the rollout of the group-wide operating management system to all of BP’s operated refineries and petrochemicals plants. The system covers all areas, from process safety, to personal health, to environmental performance.
