In today's age of globalization, there is a lot of interaction between non-governmental organizations and multinational corporations. The SRI industry works with many for-profit companies that often share similar goals with NGOs, such as Oxfam America. In this podcast, Ray Offenheiser, President of Oxfam America, and Steve Schueth, President of First Affirmative Financial Network, discuss the best way to coordinate efforts given this growing number of interested parties with similar objectives. They go on to discuss strategies Oxfam is working on to mitigate the impacts of climate change on the world's poor, who although have contributed very little to climate change will most likely suffer the worst of the consequences. Mr. Offenheiser shares some innovative options for financing adaption to this global challenge by allowing the developing world to better manage the risk due to climatic change through programs such as a partnership with Swiss Rei to develop a weather indexed insurance product for small farmers in Ethiopia. Mr. Offenheiser and Mark Way, who heads Swiss Re's sustainable development activities in the Americas, will continue this discussion at the SRI in the Rockies conference on the 26th of October. Tune in to learn more about these exciting possibilities in this highly informative discussion.

In this podcast with First Affirmative President, Steve Schueth, L. Hunter Lovins, founder and President of Natural Capitalism Solutions, discusses how innovation around green technology is the key to a dynamic growing industrial economy and shares insight from her experiences working all over the world to make this a reality. On corporate responsibility, Hunter says, "We now have 15 separate studies from the sorts of wild eyed environmental radicals like Goldman Sachs and McKinsey showing that the companies that are the leaders in environment, social, and good governance policy have 25 percent higher stock value, the fastest growing stock value, are well protected from value erosion even after the collapse, and even after the collapse have market capitalization averaging $650 million more than their competitors. Conversely, the worst performing companies are most likely to have nobody in charge of sustainability." She also talks about where Walmart falls on this corporate responsibility continuum as they work to become a leader in sustainability, and the impact that socially conscious investors have had on corporate views of sustainability.

Hunter will be speaking at the 20th annual SRI in the Rockies Conference in Tucson, Arizona on October 27th.

How valid is the common assumption that making business "green" will cost more than business-as-usual? Gil Friend, President and CEO of Natural Logic says that we cannot--and, perhaps more importantly, should not--make the _defacto_ assumption that green costs more in business.

In this interview with Steve Schueth, President of First Affirmative Financial Network , Mr. Friend addresses some of the myths or "lies" about green business that organizations must bust in order to effectively and profitably find the synergy between what's good for the environement and what's good for business. He makes clear that all types of organizations--including businesses, government, and NGOs--must respond to major changes in the marketplace, such as significant regulatory changes, shifts in resource availability, peak oil, and climate change and that most importantly, they can do so while maintaining profitability.

Mr. Friend is the author of _The Truth About Green Business _ and will speak at SRI in the Rockies on October 27th.

Twenty years ago, incorporation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues into business practices was virtually unheard of. But, that's when Ceres was started and, today--with President, Mindy Lubber at the helm--Ceres has become the leading U.S. coalition of investors and environmental leaders working to improve corporate ESG practices. Ms. Lubber also directs the Investor Network on Climate Risk , an alliance that coordinates U.S. investor actions around the financial risks and opportunities posed by climate change.

In this brief interview with First Affirmative Financial Network President, Steve Schueth, Ms. Lubber discusses what sustainability means to global economics and argues why the Waxman-Markey bill , now the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES), is neccesary to correct for environmental externalities in order to both improve the efficiency of our market and avoid impacts much worse than those of the subprime meltdown.

Ms. Lubber will be speaking at the 20th Anniversary SRI in the Rockies Conference on October 25th in Tucson, Arizona.

Auden Schendler is Executive Director of Sustainability at Aspen Skiing Company where he has led the industry in use of renewable energy, climate policy, certified green buildings, onsite renewables, biodiesel in vehicles, sustainability reporting, ISO 14001 certification and political activism at the Supreme Court and Congressional level. In his new book _Getting Green Done: Hard Truths from the Front Lines of the Sustainability Revolution_ , published in February 2009, Mr. Schendler addresses the reality that, while "green" may often eventually be profitable, it requires tough choices and a close examination of our mistakes and failures.

A LEED (green building) certified professional, Mr. Schendler is interviewed in this podcast by Steve Schueth, president of First Affirmative Financial Network . The two discuss how to make the most of sustainability projects that fail, learning to find your "lever" for the greatest impact, and what keeps Mr. Schendler going in the face of discouragements.

Mr. Schendler has been a research associate in corporate sustainability at the Rocky Mountain Institute and published in _Harvard Business Review_ , the _L.A. Times_ , Salon.com , _Orion_ , and many other journals. He has testified to Congress about climate change and lectured internationally and featured in _Outside , Fast Company , Travel and Leisure ,_ and _Businessweek_ . Mr. Schendler was named a global warming innovator in _TIME_ magazine's 2006 climate change special issue.

Mr. Schendler will present a keynote session at the 20th Anniversary SRI in the Rockies Conference on October 27th, 2009.
