Youth are a very vulnerable population, and at the same time the population segment that is most positioned to bring about significant positive change in their society. I think it's a great idea to empower youth both to bring about change in their immediate families through economic growth, as well as in their communities.

If this takes off, it can potentially be applied across cities world-wide.

Thanks for all the great comments. As a practical idea of how I would apply the funds - the plan would be to build a working Eco Machine within a small SolaRoof greenhouse at a high school in the Burlington area. I would propose that the project obtain further funding from the business group that we would form and also to submit this project as an entry in the Architecture for Humanity Challenge: CLASSROOM. Winning this competition will cover all construction cost but more importantly would shin

I'm sorry to all of the dozens of people who took the time and "promoted" us on this page. It never occurred to me that other submitters would be so cut-throat and "demote"everyone else's submissions only to raise their own. I'm extremely disappointed in these people.

Every high school has discipline problems. Every company wants to hire "trained" graduates.
What about a group mentoring curriculum for business people to mentor high school kids during high school advisory periods? It works! I, as the CEO for StrengthBank Inc. would use the $5000 to recruit and train mentors to present to another high school ready to begin mentoring for brighter futures for us all.

The concept of meeting in the middle - from grass roots to social intrapreneurs - is pragmatic, realistic and effective. While non profits and social entrepreneurs seek to move from social concern to social action, talking the walk through finance by moving intrapreneurs closer to the middle to meet grass roots, everyday consumers, non profits & social entrepreneurs is key. Having an insider teach, lead, and envison a more sustainable corporation is key.

I fully support this idea. It walks the walk, directly, rather than trying to promote itself. Kudos to you Natalia!

The Make Me Green (MMG) loan/grant program idea can be deepened into creating a consumers group that would advocate on behalf of social/conscious consumers. We could partner with policy think thanks, such as Public Citizen, and connect them with MMG supporters and expand their efforts into educating consumers about subsidized options. MMG could also leverage its member base by getting special group rates from producers/manufacturers/distributors. MMG would also collaborate with PIRGs and prov

Apologies for submitting this idea twice - I briefly thought the first attempt had failed.
