While May is a time to recognize the many contributions Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians have made to the American story, as well as the challenges they face, we encourage this recognition to continue throughout the year.

Asian hate crime has increased ten times since Covid-19 reared its ugly head, with racism and extreme violence threatening the lives of many members of the AAPI community (Asian American and Pacific Islander).

Asian Americans claim to have been targeted more than a staggering 500 times in the last two months, according to Stop AAPI Hate, a coalition that tracks violence and harassment against the community.

It has released data highlighting the number of incidents reported, which surged from 3,795 to 6,603 in March of this year alone.
