Results bring total fundraising to $30.2 million — enough to provide 77 million breakfasts to kids in need
BOISE, Idaho, October 11, 2018 /3BL Media -- Albertsons Companies and Albertsons Companies Foundation announced today that, through the generous donations of customers, the Hunger Is fundraiser to fight childhood hunger in America raised a record $7.2 million in just 30 days.
The 2018 campaign, which engaged communities to support their most vulnerable citizens, raised enough to provide 22 million breakfasts for kids in the 2,300+ communities in which Albertsons Companies operates.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is excited to be selected as a charity partner for Albertsons Companies Foundation to receive donations from the annual Hunger Is campaign to eradicate childhood hunger. All donations made at local Albertsons stores will be used to support the Food Bank's Children's Breakfast Program, which provides nutritious breakfast foods for children facing food insecurity.
The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) is one of 13 local and regional organizations to be the recipient of a grant by Safeway Foundation supporting cancer research and treatment efforts. The $35,000 award will be directed toward the expansion of the Cancer Patient Navigation Hotline, a communications resource offering guidance by trained oncology nurses--"navigators"--to patients and their families at no cost.
City of Hope’s annual Kids 4 Hope program, in partnership with Albertsons Companies Foundation, Vons Foundation and Pavilions Foundation, has raised over $1 million to support research and treatment for pediatric cancers.
Albertsons Companies Foundation announced the release of its 2017 Community Impact Report, which illustrates how money donated by Albertsons Companies customers helped effect meaningful change for the people who need it the most.
