BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 31, 2017 /3BL Media/ - As Hurricane Harvey continues to bring catastrophic flooding and devastation to parts of Southeast Texas, Albertsons Companies is mobilizing its entire chain of 2,300+ stores across the U.S. to aid in the disaster relief effort.
The company announced a nationwide fundraiser to help the tens of thousands of people in the affected areas meet their basic needs. In addition, Albertsons Companies and the Albertsons Companies Foundation is matching the first $200,000 donated by customers.
August 26th is Women's Equality Day, a day commemorating the signing of the 19th Amendment, which granted U.S. women the right to vote. On August 26, 1920, American women rightfully became part of the political process to form policies that would affect them, their families, schools, states and the entire country.

For nearly a decade, employees at Albertsons Companies’ Northern California Safeway office have participated in and raised money for the AIDS Walk San Francisco. This year, the team of Albertsons Companies’ corporate office and Safeway employees again supported the important cause. About 8,000 people participated in the 10K walk through Golden Gate Park.
Safeway is committed to minimizing its impact on the environment, preserving vital resources, and contributing positively to its valued community. These ideals were revealed clearly in a recent project at the Safeway store in Truckee, California. Eager to conserve electricity, Safeway accepted a partnership proposal from Ecology Action, a non-profit environment consultancy organization committed to helping people and businesses act now to create a thriving economy and healthier planet.
The Safeway Foundation's Cancer Research and Treatment campaign raised $450,000 in stores throughout the division during the month of May. In addition, the foundation is awarding another $207,000 to beneficiaries of the campaign for a grand total of $657,000. The money raised benefits a variety of local organizations that provide services for breast cancer research and treatment in Northern Nevada, Northern California and Hawaii.
