The Washington Business Journal launched the awards last year to recognize Greater Washington companies and business leaders for outstanding practices in advancing LGBTQ leadership and equality. US Black Engineer and Information Technology magazine has named Booz Allen Executive Vice President Anthony “Tony” Mitchell the 2019 Black Engineer of the Year (BEYA). Since the BEYA award was established in 1986, more than 10,000 engineers have been nominated but only 33 have won the honor of the title.
