February 1, 2022 /3BL Media/ - The Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) completed its 11th global benchmarking study – a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative research of water, energy, and emissions efficiency in the beverage industry. The findings of the study substantiate the beverage industry’s ongoing efforts to better understand and reduce resource use on a global scale.
Notably, 2021 marked significant collective progress as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) hit the mainstream. Accompanying the growing focus of initiatives aimed toward target setting and improved assessment and measurement of ESG plans, acute attention is now focused on addressing rapid decarbonization, deforestation, energy efficiency, and other critical impacts of businesses’ value chains.
In 2021, the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) celebrated its 15 year anniversary as a consortium of leading global beverage companies advancing environmental sustainability. BIER has been recognized as a model of industry collaboration and has continuously advanced the development of sustainable solutions through beverage industry-specific data collection, methodologies, standard-setting, best practice sharing, and thought leadership.
