James Brown famously sang, “This is a man’s world.” However, perhaps the most notable part of that chorus and song is the second verse: “…But it wouldn’t be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl.”

Unfortunately professional development for employees is often overlooked despite its highly beneficial impact on company performance. Years ago, I had the experience of meeting Donald Trump. I worked in city government in New York and he wanted to buy a building from the city. (He pitched poorly, and totally misread his civic nerd audience, telling us over and over how Britney Spears had a whole floor of rooms at his hotel….)
