CBRE has achieved its initial two year UK fundraising target of £500,000 for Shelter, the UK’s leading housing and homelessness charity, in just 18 months. In the wake of this achievement, the global real estate advisor has now extended the UK-wide partnership for a third year and has set a new target to reach by 2018 of £1,000,000. This target will be made up of £750,000 through employee fundraising and corporate donations, in addition to £250,000 of pro bono work and savings on behalf of the charity.

National Grid employees from Massachusetts and Rhode Island participated June 17 in the annual Veterans Inc. Stand Down at the nonprofit’s headquarters at 69 Grove St. in Worcester, Mass. In addition to volunteering at the event, employees raised more than $4,000, which the company matched. In total, the company presented Veterans Inc. with an $8,000 donation.
100 CBRE employees, sponsors, clients, suppliers, family and friends faced a cycling challenge through the undulating hills of France, finishing on the Italian Riviera. The 650km ride, which started June 5, began in the medieval castle town of Carcassonne before finishing on the Mediterranean coast in San Remo on June 9. A number of significant climbs were involved on the route to the beach in San Remo, notably the 3,000 m climb on the third day of cycling between Carpentras and Digne les Bains.

AT&T joined Give Kids the World Village to host a volunteer day in Orlando. Nearly 600 people worked together to make it possible for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to celebrate a year’s worth of holidays in a week. This event kicked off the annual Revolution dealer conference, hosted by DIRECTV — part of the AT&T family — for dealers, partners and employees.
A recent Gallup poll of 1 million students in the U.S. found that only half report feeling engaged in school and one-fifth are actively disengaged. The poll showed engagement levels decline significantly as students get older, bottoming out in 11th grade.
According to Gallup, several things might help explain this trend, including the “lack of experiential and project-based learning pathways for students.”
