Battery Research Project Will Support the Company’s Clean Energy Plan
KALAMAZOO, Mich., September 17, 2018 /3BL Media/ – Consumers Energy today ushered in a new technology on the campus of Western Michigan University, starting operation of a new large-scale battery that should store enough energy to power 1,000 homes at any time.
CMS Energy, including our primary subsidiary, Consumers Energy, has integrated sustainable principles throughout all levels of our company. Our commitment to the triple bottom line — People, Planet and Profit — is our foundation.
Consumers Energy’s historic J.R. Whiting Plant retired two years ago and is slated for demolition. But the company continues to help a pair of peregrine falcons who’ve called the site home for more than a decade.
We recently completed construction of a 65-foot tower for Harold and Ludwig, the male and female, respectively, seeking out a nesting site in their annual migratory journey to Michigan.
HOWELL, Mich., Aug. 21, 2018 /3BL Media/ – Consumers Energy Howell industrial gas service worker Guy Houseman is a dedicated employee and devoted animal lover. Those two traits recently played a key role that resulted in a lifesaving effort of the four-legged kind.
A 26-year employee, Houseman is responsible for performing gas leak investigations and appliance repairs out of Consumers Energy’s Howell service center. He was on call the night of July 3 and responded to an emergency request to shut natural gas off at a house fire on Coon Lake Road in Howell.
