We’re often asked about the most important ESG themes that investors should consider. As bottom-up, active managers, we unsurprisingly tend to focus on those issues that are most material for each investment case. That said, there are several overarching ESG topics that we believe are increasingly important for investors to be aware of right now.
Booz Allen senior vice president Anil Markose spoke about the need for enterprise-wide understanding of cybersecurity at a meeting of the Cyber Fellows Advisory Council at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, saying, “If you look back 20 years ago...everyone had to have some sort of IT skills because everyone was interfacing with a computer or some sort of technology. I like to say that I didn’t really choose a career in cybersecurity – it chose me. The field naturally suits my personality, which has always been safety conscious. My cybersecurity journey began at Georgia Tech Research Institute, where my work exposed me to the challenges of using electronic systems to secure physical spaces. Intrigued, I wanted to build on that insight, so after graduation I looked for a job in the embedded systems space that would keep me on my toes. It didn’t occur to me that the expansive field of cybersecurity largely intersects with embedded systems.
University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Loyola Blakefield Receive Donations to Cybersecurity Programs to Further STEM Education and Research

Rowe Price Group (NASDAQ-GS: TROW) announced today that the firm’s information security team made financial contributions to two local cybersecurity programs in an effort to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and research specifically in cybersecurity. University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Center for Cybersecurity received $60,000 and Loyola Blakefield received $25,000.
