Heather Hunter and her husband, Blake, have welcomed their first child to the family with assistance from the company’s leading adoption-friendly employee benefit
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., December 19, 2019 /3BL Media/ – The best gift around the Hunter family’s Christmas tree this year will be the presence of a happy family wrapped up in their new daughter.
Heather Hunter, a HanesBrands key account manager, and her husband, Blake, recently adopted their daughter, Tenley Gray, after she was born in May. The Hunters were supported through the process by Hanes’ adoption leave and financial reimbursement benefit and the assistance of many people throughout the organization.
Sadie and her husband, Cody, adopted their son, Latrell, through the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption’s Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program. The Corleys, who live in Louisiana, want to raise awareness about the importance of foster care adoption, and specifically, the critical need to find permanent, loving homes for teenagers in foster care.
Every child deserves a safe, loving and permanent family. That is the simple, yet profound motivation behind National Adoption Month. Celebrated across North America each November, this special month of awareness building helps to increase the number of families considering adoption and celebrates the joys of creating families through foster care adoption.

It’s difficult to quantify the number of lives that Dave Thomas touched throughout his 69 years of life. From our 6,500 restaurants who employ around 30 employees per restaurant per year, combined with the thousands of children in the foster care system who have been paired with a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter, plus all the restaurant support center employees, contractors, suppliers and agencies that serve to support the Wendy’s restaurants…the number must be in the billions and counting
DANVILLE, Ohio — If she were to wait for just the right place or occasion, Sariah Brady figures, she might never wear the cherry-red swing coat. So why not grab it for the short walk to the family auto shop?
Sariah’s mom smiles as she and her 18-year-old daughter, an aspiring model, stride past modest houses and work trucks along Washington Street. With her dark curls and high heels and bright coat, Sariah is resplendent against the gray November sky.
Children of all ages are waiting in foster care to be adopted
Jayden met his adoptive parents at 14 months old after being in foster care for nine months. His mom shared, “We never expected the adoption process to take as long as it did, but we would do it all over again! He was our son from the first day we met him.”
Every five years the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption measures the attitudes of Americans and their feelings and thoughts about foster care adoption. This year the survey was completed by Nielsen on behalf of the Foundation and there were some surprising trends.
One of the main take-aways from this year’s study is that many families who adopt already have children, debunking a long standing opinion that only families who can’t have biological children adopt. There’s also a growing sentiment in the United States that every child is adoptable.
