Survey from the American Heart Association and Aramark highlights employed Americans' desire to eat more healthfully and reveals impact of workplace environment on nutrition choices
More than half (56%) of employed Americans who typically eat lunch during work hours struggle to eat a healthy lunch at work, and more than three quarters (77%) of all employed Americans say they’re more likely to make healthier decisions at other times of the day if they eat healthy at lunch, according to a new survey from the American Heart Association, the leading voluntary health organization devoted to a world of longer, healthier lives, and Aramark, the largest U.S.-based food service company.
“I defy you to agitate any fellow with a full stomach,” wrote the English writer William Cobbett. While a full stomach feels good, what is less clear is how much food we need to eat to reach this state, given that people still eat when they feel satisfied. What is a ‘portion’ or a serving? It is an unspecified amount of food that someone decides you should eat. Who is this ‘someone’?
According to New Study Published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

It’s believed that one contributing factor to expanding waistlines is the reported increase in energy intake. Research suggests that the ability to control energy intake may be affected by the speed at which we eat, and a high eating rate may impair the relationship between the sensory signals and processes that regulate how much we eat.
