Purchase supports enterprise's sustainability goals

RICHMOND, VA, April 30, 2015 /3BL Media/ - UPS Freight® (NYSE: UPS), one of the nation's largest heavy freight carriers, announced today the addition of 64 liquefied natural gas (LNG) tractors to its fleet. The tractors, which are based in Harrisburg, Pa., join UPS's worldwide fleet of more than 2,500 natural gas vehicles.

The SoLoNOx system uses lean-burn technologies to reduce NOx emissions. SoLoNOx turbine systems convert fossil fuels into useful work or electricity. By improving combustion technology, Solar is able to do this with a much smaller impact on the environment in the form of NOx emissions and without the need for additional exhaust gas control measures. The SoLoNOx system has been installed on more than 3,000 turbines, and most of Solar’s current engine models can be equipped with the improved system.

Thanks to 46 Fuel Sense Programs, FedEx has cut back on its main source of emissions, jet fuel. Almost 72 million gallons were saved in FY14. And since the program’s inception in 2007, Fuel Sense has saved more than 334 million gallons.
