September 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ - PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan company, has sponsored a coffee farmer collective in Papua, Indonesia since 2000. For 14 years Amungme Gold coffee has been farmed and processed by indigenous Amungme farmers under the guidance of Freeport’s entrepreneur business program to meet growing demand from consumers.
The Amungme Gold Cooperative has 109 coffee farmers working on coffee plantations spread over an area of 42 hectares located in four high plains communities near the PT Freeport Indonesia operations.
An Enactus team in Azerbaijan saw a way to make refugees self-sufficient. They provided 10 families with 200 chicks. Exposure to entrepreneurship extended to neighbors and relatives, infusing the community with new skills. Each family in the program ended up earning $640 in net profit.
At the heart of entrepreneurship is the ability to see opportunity where it might not be immediately obvious. Whether it’s harnessing the sun’s energy to produce clean drinking water or transforming discarded shipping containers into housing solutions for the homeless, Enactus students demonstrate that entrepreneurial action can be a powerful catalyst for enabling greater human progress.

DRW employees once again donated their time, knowledge, and office space to coach students from the Chicago Tech Academy on how to build a business plan. The event was organized by the Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) - an organization DRW has long worked with to inspire students with more than just entrepreneurial dreams, but an actual business plan.
